Some words from our guests...
“My 6 days in La Comunidad Nueva Betania were a blessing and will forever have a positive impact on me. I could not have asked for a better guide than Luis, who led me every step of the way and showed me what it is like to live in and experience a Shipibo community. He went above and beyond to make sure I got the most out of the experience and for this I will forever be thankful.”

"Finding the proper balance between sincerity, authenticity and price is a challenge. Nii Rao Nete was that balance for me. I value the 5 and a half days I spent here with Luis, his family and Sam, and I consider it a great gift.
This isn’t a decontextualized center à la Iquitos nor is it a posh yoga-style retreat. This is Luis’ home and community. His family is very sweet, and I appreciated being welcomed into their home for meals and conversation. There is space to create art, to reflect and to learn about medicinal plants and shipibo culture and beliefs.
If you’re a newcomer, it behooves you to do your own research. There are no guarantees, especially for a short stay. Be open and honest about your expectations and questions. You’ll get out of it what you put in.
Luis’ respect for and dedication to the medicine is very apparent, and he is at his best during ceremony where he is attentive and caring and provides guidance when it matters most. Ceremony was conducted in very small groups, and the personal attention was very much appreciated. At the end of the day, the power is in the medicine. Follow plants, not gurus. But a caring and experienced maestro is invaluable to guide you through the depths."

"I spent a week with this beautiful family learning natural dye, painting, and embroidery. This was one of the most memorable weeks of my 3 month journey in Peru. The family was so warm and welcoming, I felt like one of the daughters immediately. The kids even baked me a cake for my birthday! I am an artist, and connecting with communities through crafts is a passion of mine. I loved learning how a Shipibo textile was made from harvesting the plants for the dye to dying to painting with jungle clay to embroidery. I also got to play with the kiddos, swim across the river, went for a boat ride, and relaxed in the hammock. Thank you Luis, Macarena, David, Josefa, Elias and the whole family. I hope I get to see them all again soon!!"

"Our group of 6 stayed at the Nii Rao Nete Center for five days for a short film project, and had a fantastic experience. Luis and Macarena were welcoming and open from the first moment we met. It’s easy to see the heart and passion they put into their work. They shared their knowledge about Shipibo culture and traditions and helped us meet and learn about the Nueva Betania community. They took us on walks through the jungle, swims, fishing, and to community events and were flexible and collaborative with our project. I would love to come back in the future!"

"My girlfriend and I went here for two weeks. I didn’t realize how much I needed this place until I left, and we will DEFINITELY be back. It was a truly life changing experience and if anyone is looking for a genuine, safe, traditional guide Lucho is your go-to. His family (including partner) are amazing human beings and I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity for what was such a powerful experience."
